This blog’s purpose appears to have gotten lost somewhere amongst the university courses, books I’m reading, spousal activities, fears over jobs and photography sessions. Perhaps that’s related to the fact that my spirituality; the main topic of this blog has taken a back seat.
However, this was a partly-planned event and I fully intend to take this stopper out once I return to Brighton, so fear not. I decided in July to take out time, which would else wise have been used to pursue random splatter activities such as constant email checking, looking at Etsy shops when I have no way of purchasing anything, watching rubbish on tv, eating junk food like ice cream etc. to focus on knowledge. I made my (ever-growing) list of books to read, and in those first few weeks, set down to read them. (I recieved 4 more for my birthday, whcih are at the bottom of my list.)
The goal of this was to learn more about philosophy, other religions, psychology and popular self-help methods so that I could make informed decisions about my own opinions. So that I could form honest, authentic judgment and beliefs, as well as finding new areas of spirituality to practise and explore, and expand my scope relating to my degree.
I’ve plans for when I move in, including an altar space, making use of my smoothie maker (cheap fortified blender) and motivating myself to work hard with photographs of my desires. I’ve made a collage of photographs of my close friends; whom I want to be proud of me. My next step is a board of positive words and phrases. The possible names my husband and I have picked out for our children.
I’m someone who loves to plan but fails to carry out the actions very often. I want the perfection; the quick fix. I still believe there’s an “end” to this journey and I want to be there; all perfect.
So let’s take this one step at a time.
- I’m a very fussy eater – do any of you have any tried and tested smoothie recipes (along the lines of 1 part fruit, three parts water, two parts fruit juice) so that I can mix and match and use fruits and vegetables I like?
- Are there any must-have accessories for those who have problems carrying out plans? I’ve a diary with lots of space for each day for easy planning, a bit of laminated cardboard (make-shift whiteboard) and marker for lists, a timer and post it notes.
- Planning to grow our own herbs for cooking and such. I wish they sold Thyme plants in ASDA with their rosemary, coriander and basil plants. It would make life easier for me, as I need the iron.
Events coming up this term: (using 5 day weeks)
I. Running two societies (4-5 hours a week)
II. Pagan Pub Moot (1 night a month)
III. Circles –(One weekend every 7 weeks- Wicca – Sat, Druid- Sun)
IV. Seeing my other half (two weekends in 3 months)
V. Attending extra lectures (3 hours a week)
VI. Lectures (14 hours a week)
VII. ‘Homework’ (8-9 hours a week?)
VIII. Exercise (5 hours a week)
IX. Sleep (6-8 hours a night [35 a week])
X. Clean/tidy house; do chores (2 hours a week)
Okay.. so a 5 day week has..120 hours in it? –checks- And I’ve allocated… 73 odd.. which leaves 8 hours a day to cook & eat (2 hours), relax, talk to my partner and travel to and from university (an hour odd), meet up with friends and meditate/read/bathe/ and do excess paperwork – finances, bills, expenses, rent etc. Oh, and shop. Must remember to buy food =P So I’, left with 3-4 hours a day in theory. To just be me. How can it be so hard to find those hours in the day?
I’m hoping to pursue some of the ideas about training too, which would take an extra 2-3 hours each week. We’ll just have to see. And once more, I’ve not written about reading or spirituality today. Again. Never mind. (=
